ABOUT THIS GAME
Something ancient stirs beneath the keep of Grimstone. Centuries ago,
the wardens sealed the Abyss — a sprawling labyrinth where the damned
were sent to be forgotten. Now the seal is broken, and the depths are
waking. From the slime-lit Crypts to the molten Infernal Foundry, the
legions of the deep are clawing their way toward the surface, and only
one soul is foolish enough — or desperate enough — to go down after them.
You are that soul. Armed at first with nothing but a service pistol,
you will fight through eight distinct areas: the bone-stacked Crypts,
the flooded Sewers, the machine-hall Iron Fortress, the infamous Temple
of Blood, the obsidian throne of The Herald himself, the ice-slick
Frozen Vaults, the pitch-black Catacombs where a lantern is worth more
than a gun, and finally the Foundry — the burning court of Abaddon,
the last lord of the Abyss.
This is old-school shooting the way you remember it: fast, loud and
fair. Hunt silver and gold keys to unseal the deeper halls, slam
treasure goblets and chalices into your pockets, and keep one eye on
the walls — many of them hide secret rooms stuffed with ammo, armor
and riches. Lava burns. Poison pools sizzle. Deep water drags at your
boots. And when the Mega Orb hums in its alcove, you'll feel
invincible… right up until the next volley of fireballs.
Between runs, the Abyss remembers you: three difficulty settings, a
continue system that restarts you at the deepest level you reached,
and a best score that only the truly worthy will beat.

HOW TO PLAY
### Your Mission
Fight your way down through all eight areas. Each level ends at a
glowing green **EXIT panel** — but many exits are locked away behind
**silver or gold doors**, and the two demon lords seal their own exits:
The Herald and Abaddon only give up their seals in death.
### The Golden Rules
1. **Follow the compass.** The objective tracker under the minimap
always points to your current goal — a key, a boss, or the exit —
with a live direction and distance readout.
2. **Keys glow on the map.** Silver and gold keys are always marked on
the minimap and battle map, even in areas you haven't explored yet.
Get close and you'll hear their shimmer.
3. **Press E on everything.** Doors, switches, suspicious walls…
some walls are illusions hiding secret rooms — and secrets are
worth big bonus points.
4. **Watch your step.** Orange floors are lava, green floors are
poison, blue means deep water. Move fast or move around.
5. **Grab the power-ups.** Mega Orb pushes your health to 200, Berserk
doubles your damage, the Shadow Cloak makes monsters blind to you,
and the Lantern lights up pitch-black rooms.
6. **Use the barrels.** Clustering demons near an explosive barrel is
not their problem. It's yours to exploit.
### Controls — Desktop
| Action | Keys |
|---|---|
| Move | **W A S D** or Arrow Keys |
| Aim / turn | **Mouse** (or Left/Right arrows) |
| Fire | **Left Mouse Button** or **Space** |
| Run | **Shift** (hold) |

| Switch weapon | **1 – 4** or Mouse Wheel |
| Battle map | **Tab** |

### Controls — Mobile / Touch
- **Left side:** virtual joystick to move
- **Swipe right side:** drag to turn
- **FIRE** button: shoot
- **USE** button: open doors / pick up
- **WPN** button: cycle weapons
### Beginner Tips
- The **shotgun** is your best friend up close; the **chaingun** shreds
anything at mid-range. Save **rockets** for brutes, hellions and bosses.
- Melee imps telegraph a wind-up — back up and shoot as they swing.
- Gunners hit harder the closer they are. Break line of sight, then
peek and punish.
- Wraiths drift through the dark and shrug off fear; listen for their
whisper before you see them.
- Health below 50%? Retreat is a tactic, not a shame. Doors close
behind you, and most monsters are too dumb to open them.
- On Nightmare, the demon lords gain serious extra health. Bring rockets.
